CLASS DESCRIPTION
Aquatics Programming for All is an on-demand professional development course designed for parks and recreation professionals, aquatics managers, and program coordinators. This course explores how to design and deliver inclusive aquatic programs that welcome participants of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Participants will learn practical strategies for reducing barriers to participation, engaging diverse communities, and creating aquatic experiences that are safe, accessible, and meaningful for everyone. Through real-world examples and best practices, this course empowers professionals to expand access while strengthening community impact.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify key principles of inclusive and equitable aquatic programming.
- Recognize common barriers that limit participation in aquatic programs.
- Apply universal design concepts to aquatic programming and facilities.
- Evaluate the role of community engagement in developing successful programs.
- Develop an action-oriented approach to creating aquatic programs that serve diverse populations.
After successfully passing the Knowledge Check, participants will receive a follow-up email with their quiz results, class description, and learning objectives. These records can be used to follow the self-report/self-directed method of obtaining CEUs/CECs, in which students submit materials to their accrediting organization or education chair, and the approving body makes the final determination about awarding credits. ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Briana Mitchell is the President of S’more Summer, a Change Summer initiative, where she partners with camps to create more summer experiences that center joy, equity, and belonging. She is also the President of Strategy and Operations for Change Summer, which creates high-quality, transformative summer opportunities for students from under-resourced communities. Briana previously served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Camp Association of New York and New Jersey as well as the co-chair of the affiliate’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee. A self-proclaimed master of the bucket brigade, Briana spent her formative summers at a sleepaway camp in Pennsburg, Penn. She continued her camp career as a counselor and activities director at an all-girls camp in Honesdale, Penn., before serving as the Director of AF Camp.
