The twins finished their raspberry pancakes and automatically started filling water bottles. It was Saturday and they were packing for a morning session of single track at nearby Bear Basin.
As I watched them go about their work, I marveled at how Saturday mornings had become more or less routine. The activity might be different—hiking, biking, or skiing—but the prep was basically the same. Pack the car. Hit the road. Hit the trail. Come home for a hearty lunch.
But today was a bit different. My oldest daughter had brought a few teammates (and a teammate’s boyfriend) home from college for the weekend. The whole group was going on their first mountain bike ride and the twins were drunk with power.
