I couldn’t sleep. My mind raced with possibilities and problems. It had been nearly two years since Hallie had been on skis. Cancer had robbed her of a working left knee and the next day, she was going to take her first lesson with the Awesome Program—an adaptive skiing program operating out of Brundage Resort in McCall, Idaho.
The risk-reward proposition on this endeavor was a bit out of whack. Hallie couldn’t afford to injure her re-built knee. If she injured it too badly, there was no repair available.
But, Hallie refused to let cancer or fear run her life.
