One of the great pleasures of working in the youth-sports industry is meeting so many professional administrators and hearing their stories.
Recently, I heard from a longtime colleague who has been fighting a tough battle with cancer. She told me she had received hundreds of messages from the children who participated in the programs that she oversaw throughout the years. Many of the well-wishers are adults now and let her know how profoundly she and her programs affected their lives.
Longevity in this business has its benefits, the most important one being the people that coaches and administrators meet, connect with, help, and inspire through their passion, dedication, and innovation. Plus, I love it when these industry veterans share some of the secrets to their success to help others in the field positively impact their communities.
